Hello Teachers,
We are so happy that you are recommending the Chapel Hill Durham Workshop to your students. Please feel free to contact us at NCsuzukiworkshop@gmail.com if you have any questions along the way. You can help your students prepare for the workshop by reviewing the Suzuki pieces listed for his or her current level and earlier. All Suzuki pieces should be memorized.
To help your student prepare for a master class, select a polished piece from your students repertory which he or she can play all the way thru, easily and from memory. It is also helpful for the student to have a "pretend" master class before the actual event. Explain that 3 or 4 students and their parents will watch one another take a lesson. Explain that the student and the parent learn not only during their own lesson time, but also during the other students' lessons. Even if students are not able to attend the Saturday workshop, they can still sign up for a Master's class.
Encourage your students' parents to attend the parent talk on Saturday. It might even be nice to have a parent event in your own studios following the workshop to discuss what you and your students and parents learned during the workshop.
Please also encourage your attending families to take lots of pictures and videos to assist in their practice after the workshop is over. And feel free to share them with us via email as well!
If we haven't met you, please introduce yourself! You can find one of the members of the workshop team on Saturday, or you are welcome to attend our teacher potluck supper. Email us for more info. We also welcome you to join our workshop team to help plan the 2020 workshop.
We are looking forward to another great year.
Sincerely,
The Workshop Team
